Sharon, Lois & Bram’s Peanut Butter and Jelly takes me down memory lane and made me feel nostalgic.
A classic song that I loved singing with my little sister growing up. I recall doing all the actions and we would giggle together as we were having the time of our lives. Even though we are seven years apart, for that moment we were the same age. I guess that is what happens in a moment of bliss.
Now I can share this song with my daughter and my sister can also share it with her daughter. Amazing how childhood fond memories can be passed down to the next generation through a form of a book.
For this #MelAndNikkiReview, we give this book 5 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches out of 5! A whimsical story of making peanut butter and jelly sandwich that will everyone on their feet to dance. A great addition to children’s literature that allows you to share a piece of your own childhood with your children.
You will fall in love all over again with Peanut Butter and Jelly and the song will be stuck in your mind but in a good way. 🙂 If you are not familiar with the song, you will want to as it is that good. The illustrations in the book are so well done that it adds life to the story and lyrics. It has been our favorite book to read and a great one to gift to a little one heading back to school!

About the Author
SHARON HAMPSON, the late LOIS LILIENSTEIN (d. 2015) and BRAM MORRISON are some of Canada’s most famous children’s performers, with fans across North America and around the world. The trio, known simply as Sharon, Lois and Bram, formed in Toronto in 1978 and went on to create two top-rated children’s television shows, The Elephant Show (CBC/Nickelodeon, 1984-88) and Skinnamarink TV (CBC/TLC, 1997-98), and to release 21 full-length albums (many of which reached gold, platinum, double platinum and triple platinum). Their songs feature silly animals, stories about friendship and themes of love. If you look closely, you can see characters from some of Sharon, Lois and Bram’s most popular songs in this book! After Bram’s retirement from touring in 2019 and with his enthusiastic support, Sharon and her daughter, Randi Hampson, continue to entertain children and share their message of love through their music.
Qin Leng is an award-winning designer and illustrator known for her children’s book illustrations. Qin has illustrated numerous picture books, including Sharon, Lois & Bram’s Skinnamarink and One Elephant Went Out to Play, as well as Over the Shop, A Day for Sandcastles and A Family is a Family. She lives in Toronto with her husband and son.
