Synopsis
#MelAndNikkiReview
Rosie Runs has captivated our hearts as we immersed ourselves into the story. As Rosie sets off on the biggest adventure of her life in order to find freedom and bliss.
Rosie finds compassion, joy and new friends which is a great message for young readers. The pure joy of playing and being able to be yourself.
For this #MelAndNikkiReview, we give this book 5 paws out of 5! This has been one of our favorites to read this summer. Rosie shows us that being the fastest does not mean you enjoy life more. It is when she slows down, is when she got to really enjoy life. A message that we should all take to heart. Take that time to enjoy our surroundings. To know that this book was based on the real-life story of Rosie, the greyhound, makes this story that extra special.
Maybe the questions in this story were: What is it to be happy? What is it to be free? What is keeping us from doing things we love? Why do we hurt, imprison and enslave each other: humans, animals? Can I do something? If I save myself, what happens to the others? What can be discussed in a children’s book? ~ Marika
We loved the illustrations and the detail in each page. Take the time to see each detail and have discussions with your child on what they see in each page. You will be intrigued to hear what they see. 😉 The added notes from the author and translator was a lovely touch in the book. A must read!
