#MelAndNikkiReview

My Heart Flies Open is a remarkable children’s book that opens the doors to mindfulness, peace and yoga.

We absolutely adored this book. It is a captivating story that allows you to escape the hustle and bustle of life. With each page, it leads you into a yoga pose. There are 15 different poses to try and they are easy to do (in case you are a beginner, you will be able to do them all).

For this #MelAndNikkiReview, we give this book 5 stars out of 5! My Heart Flies Open has been our go-to book after a long day. We open the book together and read each page together. Then, we do the poses before moving onto the next page. Our favorite pose to do is the Warrior 2 Pose. It makes us feel empowered! 😉

About the Author

Omileye Achikeobi-Lewis is a mother, counselor, writer, artist, mindfulness teacher, kid’s yoga teacher, and fifth-generation Vision Keeper. She hails from London and an African-Caribbean family and grew up with large Sunday dinners of rice and peas, curries, fried dumplings, and carrot juice. She remembers the constant chatter of world affairs and strange, magical, far-out cultural stories mixed in with spiritual life lessons. These Sunday dinners inspired her love of storytelling, cultures, peace, and art. Today, she loves helping kids and adults find the magic of the story within, the enchantment of cultures, the spell-binding power of the planet we live on, and the healing power of peace. Achikeobi-Lewis is also a SEED Diversity trainer and gives talks on mindfulness, indigenous wisdom, and their power to create peace in our world, communities, and school systems.

Until next time…Happy Parenting!
