The Little Tiger is a charming and whimsical picture book that follows the adventures of Ollie, a young girl who loves to dress up as a tiger. On her birthday, she receives a special gift: a tiger suit that fits her perfectly. She puts it on and goes outside to explore the forest, where she meets a real tiger cub who has lost his way. Ollie and the cub become fast friends, and they have fun playing and roaring together. But when the sun sets, Ollie realizes that the cub misses his family, and she decides to help him find them.
Nicola Killen’s story is a celebration of imagination, friendship, and kindness. She uses simple and lyrical language to convey Ollie’s excitement and curiosity, as well as her empathy and compassion for the cub. She also creates a sense of wonder and magic with the use of foil and die-cut pages, which reveal hidden surprises and details throughout the book. The story has a satisfying and heartwarming ending, as Ollie and the cub reunite with their respective families and promise to see each other again.
Nicola Killen’s illustrations are delightful and expressive, using a limited color palette of black, white, and orange to create contrast and emphasis. She draws Ollie and the cub with adorable and lively expressions, and depicts the forest with intricate and textured patterns. She also uses different perspectives and angles to create dynamic and engaging scenes, and to show the bond between Ollie and the cub.
The Little Tiger is a beautiful and enchanting book that will captivate and inspire readers of all ages. It is a story of adventure, discovery, and friendship, and of the joy of being yourself and finding your place in the world. The Little Tiger is a book that will make you roar with delight.
