Nothing Interesting Ever Happens to Ethan Fairmont is a great adventure story for middle-graders. It brings forth science fiction with the alien they try to help named, Cheese. This group of boys who come from a low-income neighborhood have to navigate through coming of age, complicated friendships and family dynamics.

We love the diversity this book brings to the literature world of middle-graders as a young Black inventor is the one who discovers the alien. We also love the overall storyline of this book. I can’t wait to see what other adventures they will come acorss in the near future!

For this #MelAndNikkiReview, we give this book 5 cheeses out of 5! Diversity, adventure, friendship and heart is what you can expect from this novel.

This novel is perfect for children ages eight to tweleve and who enjoy science fiction. If you would like to purchase a copy, click here.
