Synopsis
Esme always has a plan. A funny and sweet early illustrated chapter book about a problem-solving girl who has to manage her own birthday bash.
Esme lives with her grandparents on the uppermost floor of the topmost best building. It’s her birthday. Mimi and Pipo gave her a beautiful guitar. But they didn’t plan a birthday party.
Esme thinks this is the way with grandparents. They don’t know about parties or piñatas or birthday cake. No problem! Esme is great at problem solving.
With the help of her cat, El Toro, and a LOT of help from her neighbors in the topmost best building, the irrepressible Esme gets the birthday party of her dreams.
#MelAndNikkiReview
Esme’s Birthday Conga Line is an amazing chapter book for children! Esme is a larger than life character that is easy to fall in love with. Gracefully and with such ease, Esme is able to plan her amazing birthday party by finding everyone’s strengths and delegating each task to each person.
Now if you ask me, that is absolutley brilliant! We love how the author and illustrator was able to incorprate that lesson in the book with a dash of humor, love and art!
For this #MelAndNikkiReview, we give this book 5 piñatas out of 5! We truly loved reading this book and have read it several times since we have received it. The story is brilliant and the Esme is just an amazing main character. I can see Esme as a star who needs more books about her to our reading lineup! Even at my age I learned something wonderful from Esme and that is the art of delegated based on a person’s strength. Now I need to apply that more in my life! We highly recommend this book for ages six to nine. But I can’t deny that I loved it and I am not in that age bracket. 😉
