“Bumpadoo!” Beams into Hearts: A Squishy STEM Adventure for Curious Preschoolers

Meet Bumpi, the loveable alien learning Earth’s wonders—with giggles, goofs, and gentle science.

A Space-Age Buddy Comedy with Heart and Humour

From the creative minds of Carmen Albano and Celeste Koon comes Bumpadoo!—a refreshingly original, stop-motion preschool series that’s as zany as it is educational. Launching August 8, 2025 on TVOkids platforms and premiering on broadcast August 17, this Toronto-made gem follows a bouncy yellow alien named Bumpi who squelches, stretches, and shapeshifts his way through everyday mysteries on Earth.

His guide? Four-year-old LiLi (voiced by rising star Olivia Yang), whose kindness and know-how bring clarity to Bumpi’s adorable confusion. With monosyllabic questions and uncontainable curiosity, Bumpi learns foundational STEM concepts through sensory exploration, play, and some unexpected belly laughs. Whether it’s squishing a lemon or pondering a zipper, Bumpi’s earnest experiments tickle young imaginations.

Materials Needed:

– Yellow balloon

– 1 cup flour or cornstarch

– Funnel (or rolled paper cone)

– Black and pink permanent markers

– Optional: googly eyes, ribbon, felt

Instructions:

1. Fill the balloon: Place the funnel in the balloon opening and slowly pour in flour. Gently squeeze to settle the flour inside.

2. Tie it up: Once filled (leave some room for squishing), tie the balloon tight.

3. Draw Bumpi’s face: Use permanent markers to draw two big eyes and a happy mouth. Add blushy cheeks or eyebrows if you’d like!

4. Add fun extras: Stick on googly eyes, add felt arms, or tie a ribbon around the neck for extra character.

5. Squish away: Let kids play with their new buddy while learning about shapes and textures, just like Bumpi does.

Tip: Make two or three squishimals and play an “opposites” game—soft vs. firm, big vs. small!

Learning Through Laughs

Each bite-sized episode of Bumpadoo! is built around tactile STEM learning. From “Treehouse of Opposites” to “Tasty Treats,” the show blends preschool-friendly science concepts with visual whimsy and emotional storytelling. This hands-on approach to learning aligns with TVOkids’ commitment to nurturing curiosity and creativity.

Carmen Albano and Celeste Koon call the show “fun on a galactic scale”—and we agree. With the stop-motion artistry of Stop Motion Department and a vivid soundscape courtesy of Eggplant Music & Sound, every frame of Bumpadoo! is lovingly crafted.
