Moving from the bustling city to a quaint town is a transformative experience, one that reshapes your perspective on life and community.
But moving can mean change and change brings on a lot of fear to many. We had to consider every facet of our lives and see the impact on each of us. We were not going to take this stage lightly as our move to us was a big step for all of us.
Here is our heartfelt story of our family’s journey.

The Initial Leap
Leaping forward quickly isn’t something that I am known to do. Every move I make requires lists, conversations and deep thought. Moving from a city to a town is one of those life moments that require confidence before leaping to say the least.
We have been feeling overwhelmed with the hustle and bustle of city life. Traffic alone would make my anxiety soar and it was fraustrating on how long it would take to travel to places within the same city. Not to mention how expensive everything seemed to be in the city. We also wanted more home and it seemed that no matter how much money we invested into the home, it would never become the home that we really wanted. We also could not afford to buy our dream home in the city.
It was time for a move and see the possibilities for our family.
Discovering Community
One of the most profound changes is the sense of community that small towns offer. In the city, it’s easy to become just another face in the crowd. In contrast, small towns thrive on personal connections. This sense of belonging can be incredibly comforting and grounding. You’ll find that people are more than willing to lend a helping hand, whether it’s for a small favor or during times of need.
We value our neighborhood and everyone has been so helpful in giving us the insiders look in living in a town.

The Beauty of Simplicity
Small-town life brings with it a simplicity that is often lost in the hustle and bustle of city living. The absence of constant noise and rush allows you to appreciate the little things – a quiet morning walk, the sound of birds chirping, or the beauty of a star-filled night sky. This slower pace encourages mindfulness and a deeper connection with nature and oneself.

Building a New Routine
Adapting to a new routine is part of the transition. The lack of 24/7 convenience might require some adjustments, but it also encourages planning and intentional living. You’ll find joy in visiting local markets (our absolute fav!), participating in town events, and exploring the natural surroundings. These activities foster a sense of fulfillment and connection that is often missing in city life.
Strengthening Bonds Despite the Distance
Of course, a decision we make never comes without criticism. Some people criticized our move, fearing it would distance us from family and friends. We took this to heart and reflected on how often we actually gathered. We realized that our get-together was already infrequent and sometimes scarce.
Despite the distance, we’re only a car drive away, and we believe that true relationships are worth the effort, if a relationship truly matters, moving out of the city should only strengthen it. This encourages us to make more meaningful efforts to stay connected and cherish the time we spend together even more. This could mean changing the way we communicate to stay connected and there is nothing wrong with that.
We have been reconnecting and building stronger relationships now. The move helped us see how we needed a new clear space to feel again.

Embracing Change
Ultimately, moving from the city to a small town is about embracing change and finding joy in new experiences. It’s a journey that teaches you to appreciate the present moment and the people around you. The initial challenges give way to a deeper appreciation for the richness of a simpler, more connected life.

In the end, the move to a small town is not just a change of address; it’s a change of heart. It’s about finding beauty in the everyday, building meaningful relationships, and discovering a sense of peace and contentment that is truly priceless.
We are looking forward to further exploring our town and sharing the magic we encounter!
