Cesaria Feels the Beat is a captivating picture book that dances to the rhythm of its own drum. Authored by Denise Rosario Adusei and vividly illustrated by Priscila Soares, this book is a lyrical celebration of Deafness, dance, nature, and self-advocacy.
Synopsis
The story follows Cesaria, a Deaf dancer who prepares for the Carnival dance with a joyous spirit and a deep connection to the world around her. She feels the music through her bare feet, a sensation that guides her movements and fuels her passion for dance. When faced with the demand to conform by wearing shoes, Cesaria stands firm, advocating for her need to feel the beat directly through the earth’s vibrations.
