Debbie Ridpath Ohi’s latest picture book, “I Want to Read All the Books,” is a delightful ode to the insatiable curiosity and boundless enthusiasm of young readers. This charming story follows Hana, a precocious girl determined to read every book she can get her hands on, in a quest to answer all her questions about the world.
The Story:
A Quest for Knowledge
Hana’s journey begins with a simple question about rain, leading her mother to suggest a book for answers. This sparks Hana’s ambitious goal: to read all the books. From nonfiction to adventure, mystery to romance, Hana devours every book in her house, her friends’ houses, and eventually the entire neighborhood. Her journey is a testament to the power of books to ignite curiosity and foster a lifelong love of learning.
Illustrations:
Ohi’s illustrations are as captivating as her storytelling. The muted, simple artwork perfectly complements the narrative, bringing Hana’s world to life with warmth and charm. Each page is a visual treat, inviting readers to linger and explore the details.

#MelAndNikkiReview
At its core, I Want to Read All the Books is about more than just reading. It’s about the joy of discovery, the importance of libraries, and the value of sharing knowledge with others. Hana’s journey is a reminder that while we may never read all the books, the pursuit itself is a rewarding adventure.
Hana reminded me a lot of our own Nikki who has loved books since she was very little. Books is what inspired her to learn more about Greek Mythology. As she dove in, it encouraged her to read more books to answer all her questions on this topic. That is the power of books and we love how this children’s book sparks that talk!
In Closing
Debbie Ridpath Ohi has crafted a sweet, encouraging story that will resonate with young readers and their families. I Want to Read All the Books is a celebration of curiosity, community, and the endless possibilities that books offer. It’s a must-read for any young bibliophile and a wonderful addition to any child’s bookshelf.
Until next time…Happy Parenting!
