How to Celebrate New Year’s Eve at Home with Little Kids

Advertisements

New Year’s Eve is a time to celebrate the end of one year and the beginning of another. But if you have little kids, you might not be able to go out and party like you used to. Don’t worry, you can still have a fun and memorable night at home with your family.

Here are some ideas for parents to celebrate New Year’s Eve at home with little kids.

Make a Countdown Craft

One way to get your kids excited about the new year is to make a countdown craft.

You can use paper, cardboard, stickers, glitter, or anything else you have at home. You can make a simple clock with movable hands, a calendar with flaps to open, a chain of paper links to tear off, or a jar of confetti to pop. You can also write down some resolutions or wishes for the new year on the craft.

Then, you can use the craft to count down the hours or minutes until midnight (or an earlier time if your kids can’t stay up that late).

Play Some Games

Another way to have fun on New Year’s Eve is to play some games with your kids. You can choose some classic board games, card games, or video games that everyone enjoys. Or you can make up some new games that are related to the new year.

For example, you can play a trivia game about the events of the past year, a bingo game with words or symbols related to the new year, or a scavenger hunt with clues hidden around the house. You can also make the games more festive by adding some prizes, such as candy, stickers, or noisemakers.

Watch a Movie

If you want to relax and cuddle with your kids on New Year’s Eve, you can watch a movie together. You can pick a movie that is about the new year, such as New Year’s Eve, Happy New Year, Charlie Brown, or High School Musical. Or you can choose a movie that is your family’s favorite, such as Frozen, Toy Story, or The Lion King.

You can also make some popcorn, hot chocolate, or other snacks to enjoy while watching the movie. And don’t forget to pause the movie when the clock strikes midnight (or your chosen time) to cheer and hug your kids.

Have a Dance Party

If you want to burn some energy and have some fun on New Year’s Eve, you can have a dance party with your kids. You can create a playlist of songs that are upbeat, catchy, and appropriate for your kids. You can also add some songs that are related to the new year, such as Auld Lang Syne, Celebration, or Firework.

You can also decorate your living room with some balloons, streamers, or lights to create a festive atmosphere. And don’t forget to wear some silly hats, glasses, or costumes to make the party more fun.

Read a Book

If you want to calm down and wind down on New Year’s Eve, you can read a book with your kids. You can choose a book that is about the new year, such as Squirrel’s New Year’s Resolution, The Night Before New Year’s, or Shante Keys and the New Year’s Peas. Or you can choose a book that is your kids’ favorite. ,You can also make some cozy blankets, pillows, or stuffed animals to snuggle with while reading the book. And don’t forget to kiss your kids goodnight and wish them a happy new year.

These are just some ideas to help make celebrating the New Year with your little one fun. Whatever you do decide to do, do what works best for your family.

From my family to yours, Happy New Years!
