Reading is something that many of us love to do, some of us are perhaps not so keen on, and that we can sometimes take for granted. Being able to read wasn’t so common in the past, and for those who could read, there were various expectations about who should read what. Reading has changed a lot over time and in a number of different ways.
Everyone Can Learn to Read
While literacy levels are certainly not perfect, everyone in developed countries has the chance to learn to read. This wasn’t the case not too long ago when only those with money would have received the necessary schooling or been able to stay in school. Even adults today can improve their literacy with adult literacy classes.
Reading Anything on the Move Is Easy
Books are already pretty portable, but you’re usually limited to carrying around one or two. However, with today’s technology, you can now read not just books but anything you want to. Whether you buy an e-reader that allows you to read ebooks on the go, use a tablet, or just take your smartphone everyone, it’s easy to read whenever and wherever.
Books Are More Accessible
Getting hold of a book today is easy. You don’t have to pay for them if you don’t want to, with most places having a local library available. Some libraries even make interesting and rare collections available to visitors, allowing them to see books and other publications and artifacts they otherwise wouldn’t have access to.
